The year following the acquisition of The Farm in 2016, grape stock was ordered and planted in the field flanking Hydraulic Road as the beginning of our vineyard. Much to the owner's chagrin, many months later, it became clear that none of those plants survived.

 

With the rising and setting of many suns, owner Albrecht researched and studied the many reasons leading to grape crop failure in Central Virginia.

Albrecht, in tandem with vineyard consultant Frantz Ventre, mapped out a replanting plan for the spring of 2020, following very specific guidelines and crop management techniques. The Farm enjoyed its first harvest in September of 2022 and is now able to boast subsequent harvests in 2023 and 2024. These were the catalysts needed for receiving The Farm Winery License, the opening of our wine tasting, and the bottling and labeling of our ’22, ’23, and ’24 harvests. The Farm’s small production center was quickly outgrown, and a partnership was formed with Bluestone Vineyard in Bridgewater, Virginia, to handle the production capacity necessary for meeting Roslyn Farm & Vineyard’s sales projections.

In 2025, Albrecht had a very successful harvest. Frantz and Albrecht decided to plant two more varietals in 2025 that are thriving. With focused vineyard management, we have been fortunate to select vines that will produce a "pat-nat" sparkling wine from an early harvest of Chambourcin. Albrecht has successfully experimented with the Spanish varietal, Albariño and French varietal, Petit Manseng.​

A visit to our wine tasting is the springboard to a full authentic farm experience. Enjoy a glass of wine served from our historic 1938 stone Manor House and Well House, tour our lush vineyards, stroll the historic gardens, meet our friendly family of pigs, chickens, roosters, goats, sheep, miniature cows, horses, ponies, and minis. You can even sign up for a horseback riding lesson or a feed-the-farm-animals session. You will be amazed at the rural setting and panoramic views enveloping this hidden gem located so near the city.
